46-1601. Legislative committees on economicdevelopment; purpose.The purpose of the legislative committees shall be to:
(a) Facilitate the growth, diversification and expansion ofexisting enterprises and the creation by Kansans of new wealth-generatingenterprises;
(b) promote economic diversification and innovation withinthe basic industries and sectors of the state;
(c) promote increased productivity and value addedproducts, processes and services among wealth-generating enterprises, and theexport of those goods and services created by small and large Kansasenterprises to the nation and world;
(d) maintain and revitalize economically depressed ruralareas and urban neighborhoods by annually targeting scarce resources by size,sector and location to communities and enterprises of particular need andopportunity, and by working in close collaboration with local communities;
(e) protect and enhance the environmental quality of thestate in ways consistent with dynamic economic growth; and
(f) promote and evaluate workforce development to meet the needs of theeconomy.
