Article 6.--REGULATION OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY

      44-609.   Rights and contracts of parties.It is hereby declared necessary for the promotion of the general welfarethat workers engaged in any of the industries, employments,utilities orcommon carriers shall receive at all times a fair wage and have healthfuland moral surroundings while engaged in such labor; and that capitalinvested therein shall receive at all times a fair rate of return to theowners thereof. The right of every person to make suchperson's own choice ofemployment and to make and carry out fair, just and reasonable contractsand agreements of employment, is hereby recognized. If, during thecontinuance of any such employment, the terms or conditions of any suchcontract or agreement hereafter entered into, are by the secretary oflabor, inany action or proceeding properly before the secretary underthe provisions ofthisact, found to be unfair, unjust or unreasonable, thesecretary may byproper order so modify the terms and conditions thereof so that they willbe and remain fair, just and reasonable and all such orders shall beenforced as in this act provided.
