      44-5,124.   Assistant attorney general; appointment within division ofworkers compensation; duties.The attorney general shall appoint, with the approval ofthesecretaryof labor, an assistant attorney general who shallbe within thedivision of workers compensation of the department oflabor and whoshall receive an annual salary fixedby the attorney general with the approval of the secretary of laborand the governor.The operatingexpenditures for the assistant attorney general shall be financed by fundsavailable for the administration of the workers compensation act. The dutiesof the assistant attorney general shall include directing or assistingin theinvestigationand administrative prosecution of alleged fraudulent or abusive acts orpractices or other violations of K.S.A. 44-5,120 through 44-5,122, andamendments thereto,or of any other provisions of the workers compensation act, andin theinvestigationandcriminal prosecution of any such acts, practices orviolations which constitute crimes.
