Article 5.--WORKERS COMPENSATION

      44-542a.   Election by individual employer, partner or self-employedperson.Each individual employer, partner, limited liability company member orself-employed person may elect tobring such employers within the provisions oftheworkers compensation act, by securing and keeping insured such liabilityinaccordance with clause (1) of subsection (b) of K.S.A. 44-532, andamendments thereto. Such insurancecoverage shall clearly indicate the intention ofthe parties to provide coverage for such employer, partner, limitedliability company member orself-employed person. When such election is made, the insurance carrieror its agent shall cause to be filed with the director a writtenstatement of election to accept thereunder so that such employer,partner, limited liability company member or self-employed person istreated as an employee for thepurposes of the workers compensation act pursuant tosuch election.This election shall be effective until such time as such employer,partner, limited liability company member or self-employed person ceasesto be insured in accordance withclause (1) of subsection (b) of K.S.A. 44-532, and amendments thereto,whereupon awritten statement withdrawing such election shall be filed with thedirector.
