Article 3.--DEPENDENT OR NEGLECTED CHILDREN

      38-324.   Adoption support; eligibility of prospective parent; amount ofpayments.A prospective parent seeking adoption support hereunder shall be aperson who has the character, judgment, sense of responsibility anddisposition which makes him or her suitable as an adoptive parent under theprovisions of K.S.A. 59-2101 et seq., and who lacks the financialmeans fully to care for such child. Factors to be considered by thesecretary in setting the amount of any payment or payments to be madepursuant to this act shall include: The size of the family, including theadoptive child; the usual living expenses of the family; the special needsof any family members; and the family income. Whenever it appears to thesecretary that the adoptive parents are no longer in need of adoptionsupport, such support shall be terminated.
