28-317. Audit of books of county officers; office for auditor.The county auditor shall audit the books and accounts of each countyofficer, monthly, and shall report in writing to the board of countycommissioners the condition of the accounts of each officer collecting orhandling money. Said monthly reports shall show the total fees collectedand paid in to the treasury by each officer since his last report, thetotal fees then outstanding and unpaid, and all other information that theboard of county commissioners may from time to time require. Said countyauditor may be provided with an office by the board of county commissionersand shall devote such time to the performance of his duties as may berequired.
