      20-3002.   Judges; number; qualifications; selection;compensation; expenses; assignment to the supreme court.(a) On and after January 1, 2008, through December 31,2010, the courtof appeals shall consist of 13 judges whose positions shall be numbered one to13. On and afterJanuary 1, 2011, the court of appeals shall consist of 14judges whose positions shall benumbered one to 14. Judges of the court of appeals shall possess thequalifications prescribed bylaw for justices of the supreme court.

      (b)   Judges of the court of appeals shall be selected in the manner providedby K.S.A.20-3003 through 20-3010, and amendments thereto. Each judge of the court ofappeals shallreceive an annual salary in the amount prescribed by law. No judge of the courtof appeals mayreceive additional compensation for official services performed by the judge.Each such judgeshall be reimbursed for expenses incurred in the performance of such judge'sofficial duties in thesame manner and to the same extent justices of the supreme court are reimbursedfor suchexpenses.

      (c)   The supreme court may assign a judge of the court of appeals to servetemporarily on the supreme court.

      (d)   Any additional court of appeals judge position created by this sectionshall beconsidered a position created by the supreme court and not a civil appointmentto a state officepursuant to K.S.A. 46-234, and amendments thereto.
