        355.14  FEDERAL SURVEYS -- DEFACEMENT.         If a person willfully defaces, injures, or removes a signal,      monument, building, or other property of the United States national      geodetic survey, or the United States geological survey, constructed      or used under the federal law, the person is subject to a civil      penalty not exceeding fifty dollars for each offense, and is liable      for damages sustained by the United States in consequence of the      defacing, injury, or removal, to be recovered in a civil action in      any court of competent jurisdiction.
