321I.17 - SPECIAL EVENTS.

        321I.17  SPECIAL EVENTS.         The department may authorize the holding of organized special      events as defined in this chapter within this state.  The department      shall adopt rules relating to the conduct of special events held      under department permits and designating the equipment and facilities      necessary for safe operation of all-terrain vehicles or for the      safety of operators, participants, and observers in the special      events.  A special event for all-terrain vehicles may include      motorcycles upon payment of an entrance fee set by the organizer of      the special event.  The department may require that part of the      motorcycle entrance fee be credited to pay costs of all-terrain      vehicle programs authorized pursuant to section 321I.8.  At least      thirty days before the scheduled date of a special event in this      state, an application shall be filed with the department for      authorization to conduct the special event.  The application shall      set forth the date, time, and location of the proposed special event      and any other information the department requires.  The special event      shall not be conducted without written authorization of the      department.  Copies of the rules shall be furnished by the department      to any person making an application.
