        321E.12  REGISTRATION MUST BE CONSISTENT.         A vehicle traveling under permit shall be properly registered for      the gross weight of the vehicle and load.  A trip permit issued      according to section 326.23 shall not be used in lieu of the      registration provided for in this section.  A person owning special      mobile equipment may use a transport vehicle registered for the gross      weight of the transport without a load.  Vehicles, while being used      for the transportation of buildings, except mobile homes and      factory-built structures, may be registered for the combined gross      weight of the vehicle and load on a single-trip basis.  The fee is      five cents per ton exceeding the weight registered under section      321.122 per mile of travel.  Fees shall not be prorated for fractions      of miles.  This provision does not exempt these vehicles from any      other provision of this chapter.
