262.71 - CENTER FOR EARLY DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION.
262.71 CENTER FOR EARLY DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION. The board of regents shall develop a center for early development education at one of the regents institutions specified in section 262.7, subsections 1 through 3. The center's programs shall be conducted in a laboratory school setting to serve as a model for early childhood education. The programs shall include, but not be limited to, programs designed to accommodate the needs of at-risk children. The teacher education programs at all three state universities shall cooperate in developing the center and its programs. The center's programs shall take a holistic approach and the center shall, in developing its programs, consult with representatives from each of the following agencies, institutions, or groups: 1. The university of northern Iowa. 2. Iowa state university. 3. The university of Iowa. 4. The division of child and family services of the department of human services. 5. The department of public health. 6. The department of human services. 7. An early childhood development specialist from an area education agency. 8. A parent of a child in a head start program. 9.
