256.30 EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES FOR AMERICAN INDIANS. The department of education shall provide moneys to pay the expense of educating American Indian children residing in the Sac and Fox Indian settlement on land held in trust by the secretary of the interior of the United States in excess of federal moneys paid to the tribal council for educating the American Indian children when moneys are appropriated for that purpose. The tribal council shall administer the moneys distributed to it by the department and shall submit an annual report and other reports as required by the department to the department on the expenditure of the moneys. The tribal council shall first use moneys distributed to it by the department of education for the purposes of this section to pay the additional costs of salaries for licensed instructional staff for educational attainment and full-time equivalent years of experience to equal the salaries listed on the proposed salary schedule for the school at the Sac and Fox Indian settlement for that school year, but the salary for a licensed instructional staff member employed on a full-time basis shall not be less than eighteen thousand dollars. The department of management shall approve allotments of moneys appropriated in this section when the department of education certifies to the department of management that the requirements of this section have been met.Section History: Recent Form
