        241.3  DEPARTMENT POWERS AND DUTIES.
         1.  The director shall do all of the following:
         a.  Designate and award grants for existing and pilot
      programs, pursuant to section 241.2, to provide services to displaced
      homemakers.
         b.  Designate an existing department staff member to perform
      the duties set forth in section 241.6.
         c.  Design and implement a uniform method of collecting data
      on displaced homemakers receiving services under this chapter and of
      evaluating funded programs.
         2.  The department shall consult and cooperate with the department
      of workforce development, the United States commissioner of social
      security administration, the division of the status of women of the
      department of human rights, the department of education, and other
      persons in the executive branch of the state government as the
      department considers appropriate to facilitate the coordination of
      multipurpose service programs established under this chapter with
      existing programs of a similar nature.
         3.  The director, in carrying out the provisions of this chapter,
      may accept, use, and dispose of contributions of money, services, and
      property made available to the department by an agency or department
      of the state or federal government, or a private agency or
      individual.
