233B.10 PLACING CHILD UNDER CONTRACT. A child received in the home, unless adopted, may be placed by the department in foster care with any proper person or family. The foster care arrangement shall provide for the custody, care, education, maintenance, and earnings of the child for a fixed time which shall not extend beyond the age of majority, except that the time may extend beyond the child's eighteenth birthday until the child is twenty-one years of age if the child is regularly attending an accredited school in pursuance of a course of study leading to a high school diploma or its equivalent, or regularly attending a course of vocational technical training either as a part of a regular school program or under special arrangements adapted to the individual person's needs.Section History: Early Form
