43.30 SAMPLE BALLOTS. The commissioner shall take from the official printed ballots of each precinct a suitable number of ballots of each political party, and shall write or stamp, in red ink, near the top of each ballot, the words "sample ballot" and shall sign or stamp the commissioner's official signature thereunder. Said ballots shall be delivered to the precinct election officials, but shall not be voted, received, or counted. Said precinct election officials shall, before the opening of the polls, cause said sample ballots to be posted in and about the polling places. The commissioner may make sample ballots available to the public. The sample ballots shall be stamped with the words "sample ballot" and a facsimile of the commissioner's signature. A reasonable fee may be charged for printing costs if a person requests multiple copies of sample ballots.Section History: Early Form
