602.11111 - JUDICIAL NOMINATING COMMISSIONS FOR ELECTION DISTRICTS 5A AND 5C.

        602.11111  JUDICIAL NOMINATING COMMISSIONS FOR      ELECTION DISTRICTS 5A AND 5C.         The membership of district judicial nominating commissions for      judicial election districts 5A and 5C shall be as provided in chapter      46, subject to the following transition provisions:         1.  Those judicial nominating commissioners of judicial election      district 5A who are residents of Polk county shall be disqualified      from serving in election district 5A on January 1, 1985, and their      offices shall be deemed vacant.  The vacancies thus created shall be      filled as provided in section 46.5 for the remainder of the unexpired      terms.         2.  After January 1, 1985, the governor shall appoint five      eligible electors of judicial election district 5C to the district      judicial nominating commission for terms commencing immediately upon      appointment.  Two of the appointees shall serve terms ending January      31, 1988, two of the appointees shall serve terms ending January 31,      1990, and the remaining appointee shall serve a term ending January      31, 1992, as determined by the governor.  At the end of these terms      and each six years thereafter the governor shall appoint      commissioners pursuant to section 46.3.         3.  After January 1, 1985, elective judicial nominating      commissioners for judicial election district 5C shall be elected as      provided in chapter 46 to terms of office commencing immediately upon      election.  One of those elected shall serve a term ending January 31,      1988, two shall serve terms ending January 31, 1990, and two shall      serve terms ending January 31, 1992, as determined by the drawing of      lots by the persons elected.  At the end of these terms and every six      years thereafter elective commissioners shall be elected pursuant to      chapter 46.
