468.10 - ENGINEER.

        468.10  ENGINEER.         1.  The board shall at its first session thereafter, regular,      special, or adjourned, examine the petition and if it be found      sufficient in form and substance, shall appoint a disinterested and      competent civil engineer who shall give bond to the county for the      use of the proposed levee or drainage district, if it be established,      and if not established, for the use of the petitioners, in amount and      with sureties to be approved by the auditor, and conditioned for the      faithful and competent performance of the engineer's duties.         2.  Any engineer employed under the provisions of this subchapter,      parts 1 through 5 shall receive such compensation per diem as shall      be fixed and determined by the board of supervisors.         3.  The board may at any time terminate the contract with, and      discharge the engineer.         4.  The engineer shall keep an accurate record of the kind of work      done by the engineer, the place where done, and the time engaged      therein, and shall file an itemized statement thereof with the      auditor.  No expenses shall be incurred by the engineer except upon      authority of the board, and vouchers shall be filed with the claims      therefor.
