459.206 - QUALIFIED CONFINEMENT FEEDING OPERATIONS -- MANURE STORAGE STRUCTURES.

        459.206  QUALIFIED CONFINEMENT FEEDING OPERATIONS --      MANURE STORAGE STRUCTURES.         1.  Except as provided in subsection 2, a qualified confinement      feeding operation storing manure in a manure storage structure shall      only use a manure storage structure that employs bacterial action      which is maintained by the utilization of air or oxygen, and which      shall include aeration equipment.  The type and degree of treatment      technology required to be installed shall be based on the size of the      confinement feeding operation, according to rules adopted by the      department.  The equipment shall be installed, operated, and      maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and      requirements of rules adopted pursuant to this section.         2.  The requirements of subsection 1 do not apply to any of the      following:         a.  A qualified confinement feeding operation which includes a      confinement feeding operation structure constructed prior to May 31,      1995.         b.  A qualified confinement feeding operation that stores dry      manure.
