Judicial circuit
Sec. 1. Knox County constitutes the twelfth judicial circuit.

Establishment of standard superior courts
Sec. 2. (a) There are established two (2) courts of record to be
known as Knox superior court No. 1 and Knox superior court No. 2.
(b) Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, each Knox
superior court is a standard superior court as described in IC 33-29-1.
(c) Knox County constitutes the judicial district of the court.

Judges; location of court sessions
Sec. 3. Each Knox superior court has one (1) judge who shall hold
sessions:
(1) in the Knox County courthouse in Vincennes; or
(2) at other places in the county as the county executive may
provide.

Transfer of actions and proceedings
Sec. 4. The judge of the Knox circuit court may, with the consent
of the judge of a superior court, transfer any action or proceeding
from the circuit court to the superior court. The judge of a superior
court may, with the consent of the judge of the circuit or other
superior court, transfer any action or proceeding from that superior
court to the circuit or other superior court.

Sitting of judges
Sec. 5. The judge of a superior court may, with the consent of the
judge of the circuit or other superior court, sit as a judge of the
circuit or other superior court in any matter as if the judge of the
superior court was an elected judge of the circuit or other superior
court.

Jurisdiction
Sec. 6. (a) Except as provided in subsection (b), the Knox superior
courts have the same jurisdiction as the Knox circuit court.
(b) The Knox superior courts have exclusive juvenile jurisdiction.

Small claims and misdemeanor divisions
Sec. 7. Each Knox superior court has a standard small claims and
misdemeanor division.
