Chapter 8. Transitional Programs

Duty to provide programs
Sec. 1. The department shall provide transitional programs for
felons who are to be released on parole, discharged, or placed on
probation.

Written policies and procedures
Sec. 2. The department shall develop written policies and
procedures to implement the programs required by section 1 of this
chapter.

Components of programs
Sec. 3. (a) The programs established by section 1 of this chapter
may include the following components:
(1) Substance abuse treatment and education.
(2) Living skills and family dynamics.
(3) Educational advancement.
(4) Community resources identification and job search training.
(b) The program components may, on an individual basis, include
continued supervision or participation after the person is released on
parole.

Annual report
Sec. 4. The department shall, not later than January 1 of each
year, submit an annual report to the general assembly on the
operation of the transitional programs established under this chapter.
The report must be in an electronic format under IC 5-14-6 and must
include information concerning the following:
(1) The number of offenders who participated in the program.
(2) The types of programs in which the offenders participated.
