Section 31-1371.01 - Application

Application

This chapter shall apply only to investments and investment practices of domestic insurers and United States branches of non-U.S. insurers that are authorized to use the District of Columbia as a state of entry to transact insurance through its United States branch under § 31-2202. This chapter shall not apply to separate accounts of an insurer pertaining to variable or modified guaranteed contracts.

Legislative History of Laws
Law 14-297, the “Investments of Insurers Act of 2002”, was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 14-222, which was referred to the Committee on Consumer and Regulatory Affairs. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on November 7, 2002, and December 3, 2002, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on December 23, 2002, it was assigned Act No. 14-573 and transmitted to both Houses of Congress for its review. D.C. Law 14-297 became effective on April 11, 2003.
