Sec. 38a-826. (Formerly Sec. 38-55). Misrepresentation to induce change of
insurance. Penalty. No insurance company, producer or any other person, copartnership or corporation shall make or issue, or cause to be made or issued, any written or
oral statements, misrepresenting or making incomplete comparisons regarding the terms
or conditions or benefits contained in any policy or contract of insurance, legally issued
by any insurance company licensed to transact business in this state, for the purpose of
inducing or attempting to induce the owner of such policy or contract of insurance to
forfeit or surrender such policy or contract of insurance or allow it to lapse for the
purpose of replacing such policy or contract of insurance with another. Any person who
violates any provision of this section shall be fined not more than five thousand dollars
or imprisoned not more than thirty days, or both.
