Sec. 10a-111a. (Formerly Sec. 11-1d). State Historian. (a) The Board of Trustees
of The University of Connecticut, shall appoint an appropriate history scholar to serve
as State Historian, who shall serve at the pleasure of the board of trustees.
(b) The State Historian shall: (1) Be a member of the Connecticut Commission on
Culture and Tourism, established pursuant to section 10-392, (2) edit or supervise the
editing and publication of the public records of the state, (3) provide information and
advice to members of the government at all levels, (4) assist the State Board of Education
in efforts to promote the teaching of history in schools and teacher preparation programs,
(5) respond to requests for advice from historical societies, (6) respond to requests for
information on the state's history, (7) make public appearances and addresses on the
state's history, (8) prepare bibliographies and other research aids relating to the history
of the state, and (9) promote by appropriate informative and educational programs the
celebration or commemoration of significant historical events.

pleasure of the board of trustees, and added Subsec. (b) re duties, effective July 1, 2001; Sec. 11-1d transferred to Sec.
10a-111a in 2003; June 30 Sp. Sess. P.A. 03-6 and P.A. 04-20 amended Subsec. (b)(1) to substitute Connecticut Commission
on Arts, Tourism, Culture, History and Film established pursuant to Sec. 10-392 for Connecticut Historical Commission
established pursuant to Sec. 10-320b, effective August 20, 2003; P.A. 04-205, effective June 3, 2004, and May Sp. Sess.
P.A. 04-2, effective May 12, 2004, both replaced Connecticut Commission on Arts, Tourism, Culture, History and Film
with Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism.
