SECTION 9220-9223
9220. The Speaker is responsible for the efficient conduct of the legislative and administrative affairs of the Assembly from the final adjournment of any session of the Legislature until the convening of the next session including, but not limited to, the preparation, correction, filing and indexing of all bills, records, histories, and other official documents of the Assembly, the proper maintenance of committee rooms and offices of the Assembly and the assignment thereof, and the signing of enrolled bills and delivery thereof to the Governor. 9221. Every member, officer, and employee of the Assembly shall, upon request, assist the Speaker in carrying out the duties imposed upon him under this article. 9222. Neither the Speaker nor any Member of the Assembly who assists him shall receive any additional salary for services rendered pursuant to this article, but they shall be allowed the same mileage and actual and necessary expenses for living accommodations and meals as is provided by the Joint Rules for members of investigating committees. Officers and employees who perform services pursuant to this article shall be compensated at the same rate paid for their services during the session. The allowances and compensation provided for in this section shall be paid only out of any money appropriated for the payment of legislative help. Claims for such allowances and compensation shall be paid by warrants drawn by the State Controller upon the State Treasurer, after certification by the Speaker. 9223. Whenever the Speaker incurs expenses in connection with the work of an Assembly committee of which he is a member, whether an ex officio or otherwise, the Controller shall draw his warrant in payment of the claim for such expenses when it is certified either by the chairman of the committee or by the Speaker. The amount so paid shall be charged against the money allocated to the committee from the Assembly Contingent Fund.
