INSTRUCTIONS: ALABAMA OTHER AVAILABLE CREDITS SCHEDULE OC 

Schedule OC is attached to and filed with an Alabama form 40R or 40NR to claim certain tax credits. The form can be found on the website of the Alabama Department of Revenue.

Alabama Other Available Credits Schedule OC Step 1: Enter your name as entered on form 40R or 40NR and Social Security number.

Alabama Other Available Credits Schedule OC Step 2: On line 1 of Part A, enter the size of the credit for taxes paid to other states if applicable. You must computer this using a form Schedule CR. If this is the only credit you are claiming, you do not need to complete Schedule OC.

Alabama Other Available Credits Schedule OC Step 3: Part B concerns the Basic Skills Education Credit available to resident and nonresident Alabama employers who provide basic skills education programs. The credit equals 20% of the employer's cost of providing courses approved by the Alabama Department of Education. Provide all information required on lines 1 through 8 to determine your credit.

Alabama Other Available Credits Schedule OC Step 4: Part C concerns the Rural Physician Credit, available to resident and nonresident who practice or live in an Alabama community of 25,000 people or less who also have admission to a small or rural hospital with an emergency room in the area. Provide all information required on lines 1 through 4 to determine your credit.

Alabama Other Available Credits Schedule OC Step 5: Part D concerns the coal credit available to corporations producing coal in Alabama.

Alabama Other Available Credits Schedule OC Step 6: Part E concerns the Alabama Enterprise Zone credit for companies doing business in areas designated as such by the state Department of Economic and Community Affairs. This is transferred from Schedule EZ or EZK1.

Alabama Other Available Credits Schedule OC Step 7: Part F concerns the capital credit granted to certain Alabama investing companies and their recipients.

Alabama Other Available Credits Schedule OC Step 8: Part G concerns the tariff credit. To be eligible for this, you must include a copy of the Notice of Tariff Credit.

Alabama Other Available Credits Schedule OC Step 9: Total all credits claimed in Part H. If a resident, transfer this to line 18 of form 40. If a non-resident, transfer this value to line 19b of form 40NR.
